Above: Rose’s face (summit of Mt. Rose) against a purple to lilac sky.  Such dawn color pops only when the air is exceptionally clear.  It lasts maybe two minutes.

Mt. Rose is one of the globe’s most remarkable geological formations that mimics a human face. Best I have seen.  Ever.

It surprises me many locals have not noticed the human face that crowns the summit of Mt. Rose.

However, a big problem is from where you look.  From south Reno all you can see is Rose’s turkey neck (sorry Rose) and her chin.  Her face is hidden. 

Rose’s face must be seen from the north.  Her 3D face, peering unblinking into the sky, is unmistakable from northern vantages. 

And what an icon she is! (or should be)

I wonder why Reno, the casinos, the tourist industry, and the Chamber of Commerce have not anointed Rose as our international symbol.

Her face (and makeup, hair, and even beard!) changes constantly with the seasons and with the clouds.  How many destinations have an icon that constantly reinvents herself?
