Mooning U
PICTURE: The moon peering through high cirrus clouds. Thin high clouds can diffract light into this colorful lunar iris.
It is darn hard to take good pictures of the moon (or I am a really slow photography learner – you pick.)
However, the atmospherics around the moon can be amazing here in Truckee Meadows.
The moon often morphs into a shimmering opal set off by clouds and mountains, but oh my god it is hard to capture such light against a dark and deep background.
Here are some of my best efforts. Be patient. I am still learning how to get my so called ‘state of the art’ digital camera to see what my eye so easily sees.
Above: Rose, in a full body repose, admires a ruby sunset with a lunar diamond set in sapphire.
